Digital Imaging I
Explores digital photography and creative computer enhancement of photographs through the use of the Macintosh computer and Adobe Photoshop software. Covers a variety of input devices. Stresses digital darkroom techniques, along with computerized retouching and visual improvement of traditionally generated photographic prints. |

View Camera - Lighting
Explores the mechanics and uses of the 4x5 view camera. Weekly studio or location assignments refine the use of the 4x5 camera as a professional tool. Studio assignments are designed to introduce the student to the use and control of tungsten lighting. Creative control is stressed, practiced and emphasized. |

Media Photography
Course reviews the history of photojournalism and emphasizes intensive practical experience utilizing a variety of news photographer techniques. Students complete weekly assignments, along with short notice assignments covering actual events. Topics covered include advanced camera techniques, digital photography, the photo-essay, page layout, newspaper and magazine styles and current trends. Stresses the importance of ethics. |

An overview of photography from its early practitioners to contemporary photographers. The history of photographic processes and their importance as it relates to the early pioneer photographers to the modern day is explored. |

Studio Illustration I
Develops knowledge and skills in producing creative images in the field of studio illustration. Places major emphasis on photographic styles, fashion and table top product work. Covers photographic illustration as part of the interaction and insight a photographer must have to function in this environment. Discusses these topics, with a priority on business. |

Studio Illustration II
Students learn to approach, identify and solve creative photographic problems for consumer advertising. Emphasis given to advanced techniques in lighting for food, still life, catalogs, fashion and editorial illustrations. |

Commercial Portrait I
Introduces basic portrait techniques, both in the studio and in outdoor environmental settings. Students explore basic portraiture, with an emphasis in utilizing classical studio lighting techniques, subject communication skills, and posing and clothing choices for consumer portraiture. |

Commercial Portrait II
A continuation of Commercial Portrait I. Examines advanced posing and lighting techniques through studio, on-location portraiture, and wedding photography. Students apply portrait techniques to special problems. |

Digital Photo Applications
Students learn about advanced digital techniques and approaches to creating photogaphic images and are introduced to digital asset management. Creativity and expressive use of new photographic tools is stressed. Current trends and issues in the imaging world are presented. |

Digital Color
Students acquire knowledge and skills related to traditional color photography and digital photographic techniques. The majority of assignments are photographed using traditional cameras and film, while most of the prints are made using computer and professional level digital printers. Students learn color processes and theory. |

Introduction to Digital Multimedia
This course is an introduction to the creation and application of multimedia, often referred to as "New Media." Current computer technology has allowed an unprecedented fusion of photography, text, graphics, animation, sound and video. These elements can now be brought together in endless combinations to enhance the learning experience. |

Professional Portfolio I / Professional Portfolio II
Portfolio I -- An introduction to the photographic portfolio for the photography major. A student is introduced to a series of assignments in an effort to explore their vision and talent. These photographic problems are probed as relative to a student's experience . Photographic careers are explored and discussed. |
